30 Main Street, (The Globe Inn), Littleport

History of 30 Main Street

The Globe Inn was associated with the Littleport Riots. It was demolished to build the Co-op, as was the house where Harry Brislin tan a hairdressing and tobacconist business.

The most famous riots started on March 22nd 1816. Twenty-four including one woman, Sarah Hobbs, were sentenced to death. 19 of these sentences were reprieved and those convicted transported.

George Crow, 23

John Dennis, 32

Isaac Horley, 23

Thomas South, 22
