Donald Pearson’s memories are recorded in Mepal Vignettes. His great grandfather had land in Mepal Fen which stayed in the family for five generations. He remembered skating on the river. Between the two world wars Pearson brothers became a big farming company with almost three thousand acres of land. They used to hand-rear lambs in the kitchen at Fortrey House.
