School and School House, Papworth St Agnes

History of School

According to Dora Tack, the schoolroom was one long room. It was divided into two classes by a difference in the floor level.

1935/37 16 children in attendance.

A Social and Dance was held in the schoolroom every third Friday during winter months. Windows were blackened by blankets brought by the villagers.

Water Bend – agricultural worker and special constable for Papworth St Agnes

Kathleen Brend, wife, schoolmistress. previously Miss Petch, and cycled to school daily from Great Staughton.
