Islands Common, St Neots

History of Islands Common

Raised walkway for pedestrians c.1905 Islands Common, St Neots

The road north from St Neots to the paper mills across Islands Common originally had gates at either end. Because the road was liable to flood, a raised wooden walkway known as The Traps was created for pedestrians.
