Then and now (David Gent) – Hills Road, Cambridge, Brooklands Avenue junction on the left. This area of the City has been subject to ongoing development for a number of years. Behind the buildings to the right of Hills Road there used to be lot of railway sidings, coal yards and the like. First picture is from an undated postcard. Second was taken last week. Third picture is from the 1903 25” Ordnance Survey map. It shows the triangle of land Station Road/Hills Road/Brooklands Avenue junction. Note all the railway sidings in this triangle, also the huge Mill buildings, Foster’s/Spiller’s Mill, next to the Station.
