Prior to 1970:
There was a bungalow belonging to Mr A L Bird who had developed the site in the 1920s. He was a university engineer; he was interested in organs and had built an organ in the bungalow with the pipes around the house and loft space. In 1938 he had bought and 18 inch gauge model steam railway. he also fished and used a punt built for him by W L Stockbridge, the antique dealer from 109 Barton Road.
1970
Bungalow built by Reuben Heffer, son of Ernest Heffer who founded the books side of Heffers. In 1982 he told the CWN: My father moved over here to No 71, called Weathercote in 1921 when my sister was up at Girton. Before that we lived at no.12.
Very nearby had lived geologist Prof. O T Jones, whose daughter Nesta married Reuben Heffer.
