Bushel and Strike, Haslingfield, 1930 (photo J H Bullock)(Cambridgeshire Collection)

Bushel and Strike / Village Store, Haslingfield

History of the Bushel and Strike

Demolished in 1958 for the supermarket. It had been a thatched building; the name represented a way of measuring corn. The bushel was filled and the strike, a piece of flat wood, was drawn across to level the content.
