A major source of James Robinson’s business seems to have been the supply of boots to the police. His descendants have copies of many contracts from which it looks as if the police placed an order for between 50 and 100 pairs of boots every year from at least as far back as 1857.

James White Robinson (1816-1891) was the son of James Robinson and Elizabeth White (1795-1821). Elizabeth was the brother of Robert White.
In 1881 the family are living in Over.
