History of 19 Spalding Way

Pat Chapman moved here with her family in August 1954. They were pleased to have a house to move into; they had been living in the Waverley caravan park in Hinton Way, Great Shelford. In  2016 she recounted the story of her family’s move to Spalding Way.

She went to the Girls High School, then worked for several university libraries before joining the staff of the Shipowners Refrigerated Cargo Research Association in Newmarket Road.

She was married at St James’s church when she was 21 and joined the choir there.

In 2025 MM sent this note:

My parents lived here from 1964 until 1998 having moved there from 18 Sturton Street which they rented from a Mr Humphrey In the 1980’ my parents bought the house from the local council.
