The Illustrated Police News 29/6/1933 reported the confiscation of a dagger at the Cambridge police court. Richard Blades, 44, a labourer who lived next door to the Apthorpe family, was sentenced to six months’ jail for threatening to kill Clara Apthorpe. Miss Apthorpe said that the threats had been going on for a long time. A constable found the dagger under a wood pile.
