Broken Tech Broken Earth

Roberto Mijat is an experienced technology executive specialising in artificial intelligence, semiconductors and product strategy.

He spent early 17 years at Arm in Cambridge, where he worked his way up to senior leadership roles. He led global teams responsible for major semiconductor intellectual property portfolios, including security, interconnect, debug, and system technologies.

Roberto shares, “My time at ARM was really informative, I felt that I grew my professional leadership ability and confidence there.” But whilst he enjoyed his time in Cambridge, he wanted to work outside of the UK and now is a Director of Product Management for AI at Qualcomm in California.

His career reflects how leadership shaped in Cambridge continues to influence global semiconductors and AI innovation.

This story was shared by a volunteer as part of the Broken Tech, Broken Earth project which aims to co-create events with the local community about the social, historical and environmental impacts of technology. This project is externally funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund as part of the Museum Association. The project is led by the Centre for Computing History, which is a registered educational charity and independent museum located in Cambridge. Our mission is to use our collections, displays, learning programmes, and events to engage the public with the developments in computing over the past 80 years.
