Richard BurgessRichard Burgess is a technology entrepreneur whose career has evolved from electronics engineering into pioneering work in mental health and neurotechnology innovation.
His interest in the relationship between mental and physical health led him to establish Clearmind Research in 2018, where he explored vocal biomarkers and the potential of human voice data to indicate aspects of wellbeing.
Since 2022, as Founder and CEO of Kingsmoat Ltd in Cambridge, Burgess has focused on accelerating the commercialisation of neurotechnology. He believes biomarkers and neuroscience can help reshape healthcare through earlier intervention and more personalised, patient-centred approaches.
As he puts it: “If we can listen closely enough to the human voice, we might hear the earliest signs of change, long before medicine usually gets the message.”
This story was shared by a volunteer as part of the Broken Tech, Broken Earth project which aims to co-create events with the local community about the social, historical and environmental impacts of technology. This project is externally funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund as part of the Museum Association. The project is led by the Centre for Computing History, which is a registered educational charity and independent museum located in Cambridge. Our mission is to use our collections, displays, learning programmes, and events to engage the public with the developments in computing over the past 80 years.
