Miss [Caroline] Laws married Arthur Edward Shrive, a basket maker, before going off to war in 1916. He was killed at Ypres in 1917.

Mrs. A. Shrive of Guest road, Cambridge, has received news from the Commanding Officer in France that her husband, Pte. Arthur Shrive, Cambs. Regiment, was killed in action on Wednesday, September 26th.  Pte. Shrive previous to joining up carried on the business of basket-maker, etc., on Peas-hill.  He was a prominent member of the Wesleyan community, and a Sunday School worker at the Wesley Church. (CDN 5/10/1917). 

Arthur Edward Shrive

Private 329333, 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment.  He married  Cassie Constance Herbert Laws (1886-1985) in 1916 in Cambridge.  He was killed in action in Polygon Wood, near Ypres, in northern France, on 26 September 1917.
