Charles Hubbard lodged here with Mr and Mrs Amps at the beginning of WWI. On 8th May 1915 he married Hilda Mary Chapman, daughter of George and Rhoda Chapman of Laburnum Cottages.

James Henry Plant married Miriam Amps, daughter of John and Annie Amps of Symonds Lane, in 1912. James had previously lived in Rock Road, and before that, in Emery Street.

James and Miriam moved to Sweet Briar Cottage, Fulbourn Road, Cherry Hinton. James volunteered for the RAMC and joined the 124th Field Ambulance in March 1916 in France. He was seriously wounded on 26th September 1917 and died the next day.

His wife and son, Raymond, moved back to Symonds Lane.
