At some point it seems very likely that Church End would have been renamed Station Road.
In the 1851 census one of the families living in Church End was the Denson family.
Jonathan Denson, 29, farmer and gardener 94 acres employing 4 men, b Waterbeach
Sarah, 32, b Stretham
John Russell, 4, b Waterbeach
John Russell was living in Cambridge at the time of WWI
Mary Ann, 3, b Waterbeach
Elizabeth, 2, b Waterbeach
Hannah, 4ms, b Waterbeach
Cook Cornell, 17, farming servant, b Waterbeach
Charles Parnell, 16, farming servant, b Waterbeach
Mary Cullum, 15, house servant, b Waterbeach
In 2022 PW sent notes about her family history:
Ann’s parents were Jonathan Denson and Sarah Russell.
Sarah came from ‘Church End’ Waterbeach, but I couldn’t find any records for this. I went to Waterbeach in 2016 and could see the cemetery was full of Wye and Denson ancestors.
Jonathan and Sarah had quite a few kids:
John Russell Denson 1846-1927.
Mary 1847-1941 married John Shrive, basket maker, and lived initially at 4 Sidney Street.
Elizabeth 1848-1932, married Benjamin Gould in New Zealand – think she travelled there with her sister Ann
Hannah 1850-? seemed to have poor health
Arthur 1853-1927
Ann 1857-1934 married Alfred Wye in NZ 1885, moved to Australia 1886. Alfred Wye had left for Australia around 1882 and went to Australia. His family originated in Waterbeach as well. He was reunited with Ann Denson in New Zealand and the couple married there before settling at Badgerys Creek near Sydney.
Josiah 1857-1946 married Matilda (Tilly) at least 7 children, one of which was Lucy.Ernest ? worked in a chemist shop
Sarah 1860 -? don’t think she married
