Then and Now (David Gent) – Hauxton Road, Trumpington.
Trumpington used to be a separate parish, but in 1934 became part of Cambridge City. This row of houses used to be the very edge of the City on the road towards Royston. It is now completely surrounded by new developments. The traffic lights in the modern view are at the entrance to Trumpington Meadows, a development of 1200 houses. Beyond what was the railway bridge in the distance development continues. I suspect it won’t be long before it reaches the M11.
First picture is a postcard postmarked 1956, second was taken July this year.
