1845

Shop opened by James Hodson

1850

George Field, tailor, took over business. Sold up 29/11/1854

1851

James Hodson, tailor. In 1851 his cutter, Osbourn, left to join the Chater Bros.

1854

Josiah and William Chater rent premises for their brother Alfred and James Osbourn for £70 per year.

1856

In October the Chater’s business here expanded when they hired a room next door in St John’s Street for a cutting and private room away from the shop.
