Broken Tech Broken Earth

Yuxuan Feng is an MPhil student in Digital Humanities at the University of Cambridge, where her research explores how people interact with artificial intelligence and respond to algorithmic design. Based at Selwyn College, Yuxuan combines technology with the humanities to better understand the relationship between innovation and society.

After graduating with First-Class Honours in Digital Media & Culture from King’s College London, Yuxuan continued to investigate the social impact of AI, including how people form connections with digital companions. Yuxuan is eager to contribute to the Cambridge’s tech sector as an aspiring consultant to support tech businesses “I am looking forward to starting my career in Cambridge after finishing my studies, learning about Cambridge’s innovation history makes me even more sure that this is the place I want to be.”

Yuxuan is excited to contribute to conversations around responsible AI and the future of digital transformation.

This story was shared by a volunteer as part of the Broken Tech, Broken Earth project which aims to co-create events with the local community about the social, historical and environmental impacts of technology. This project is externally funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund as part of the Museum Association. The project is led by the Centre for Computing History, which is a registered educational charity and independent museum located in Cambridge. Our mission is to use our collections, displays, learning programmes, and events to engage the public with the developments in computing over the past 80 years.
