Brewery House, Granby Street, Littleport c.1925The brewery of William Cutlack stood at the junction of Granby Street and City Road. Water drawn from the Old Croft River along Station Road was used. The parish council would not allow piped water to be used so Cutlack moved his brewery to Ely in 1907.
Brewery House, former Cutlack residence, was used by Belgian refugees in 1914.
Next to Brewery House is the grocer’s shop of Miss C E Cheeseright.
Alva Harlock, Boyhood Recollections of Littleport, 1988, recalls the Misses Cutlack who lived in the house. They would deliver the church magazine as well as small gifts to children at Christmas.
