Number 7 is one of a pair of houses at the end of Stone Street. They were built after the 1891 Census was taken.
Head of household is William Giddings, a 23-year-old carpenter from Orwell. He married Alice Baker in 1899 and they have a 10-month-old daughter called Hilda.
Alice’s mother is currently staying with them. Also called Alice, she is 60-years-old and has probably been helping her daughter with her first baby.
William’s brother Frederick a grocer’s assistant and William’s brother-in-law Cornelius Gill, who drivers a ploughing machine, are also staying with the couple.
By 1911 William and Alice are living with just their children, no other family. Hilda is now 10 and goes to school. Alice May is 7, Stanley Edgar is 5 and Grace is 3. The 1911 Census asks how long you have been married and how many children you have had. The couple have been married 11 years and had 6 children, one of whom has died.
The electoral registers show that, at some point in 1912, the family moves to 5 Stone Terrace.
