Rebecca Middleton has had a diverse career originally starting out as a teacher before joining Cambridge’s tech space as a consultant.

Early in her career after studying to achieve a master’s degree in psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University, Rebecca then decided to pursue a PGCE in Special Education and Teaching with the hopes of working in primary schools. After several years she landed a job at the UK Civil Service where she started to gain an interest in AI risk assessment and security.

From Rebecca’s experience she encourages people to, “Always explore your options, and recognise that no experience is ever wasted, sometimes it can take you time to figure out what your true calling and now I love my current role at Cambridge Consultants.”

Combining expertise in behavioral analytics from a psychology perspective with a deep understanding of organisational risk and governance, she helps organisations navigate complex AI challenges with confidence.

This story was shared by a volunteer as part of the Broken Tech, Broken Earth project which aims to co-create events with the local community about the social, historical and environmental impacts of technology. This project is externally funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund as part of the Museum Association. The project is led by the Centre for Computing History, which is a registered educational charity and independent museum located in Cambridge. Our mission is to use our collections, displays, learning programmes, and events to engage the public with the developments in computing over the past 80 years.
