1701: in will of Thomas Allen to be left to his younger brother William

1711: William went bankrupt so property sold to King’s College Cook, Thomas Brand. A few months later Brand sold it to Thomas Nutting. described as a ‘messuage or tenement now or late of Richard York‘ with ‘ warehouse and chambers over, sometimes in the occupation of Grace Allen, and now or since of John Day.’

1759: death of Thomas Nutting; sold to William Anderson, baker for £672.

1774: William left property to son John and from John it descended to his children William and Mary.

1814: Younger William sold it to William Eaden, probably the draper.

1836: William Eaden transferred life interest to his daughter Elizabeth, wife of David Lilley.

1839: Transferred to grandson William Eaden Lilley; occupied by David Lilley

1851: occupied by David Lilley


1861:

David Lilley, 83, farmer employing 5 labourers and 2 boys, b Bourn

Elizabeth, 66, b Cambridge

Mary Harper, housemaid, 29, b Melbourn

Martha Cracknell, 27, cook, b Little Swaffham


1871: boarding school for young ladies: three teachers and twelve scholars

1890: property bought by Eaden Lilley & Co.


1891:

Arthur Rutt [in 1891 living at 32 City Road; in 1906 at 14a Market Hill]
